Illinois is rolling out new policies that change how homeowners and businesses receive credits for solar energy, bringing in new opportunities and challenges for solar and energy storage projects. ţţËã·¨ helps installers navigate these updates with specialized tools, ensuring your customers can maximize their savings in the evolving landscape.
As of January 1, 2025, the state has implemented with day-ahead hourly dynamic pricing (DAP) for new solar customers. Shifting from full net metering to supply-only netting for energy exports, Smart Solar Billing encourages self-consumption and reduces reliance on grid exports for solar systems with batteries. The Self-Consumption profile in the ţţËã·¨ App helps optimize the use of solar energy produced by ţţËã·¨ Systems for savings on utility bills.
To help Illinois installers make the most of the new policies, ţţËã·¨ offers tools for proper system configuration and helps meet compliance requirements for storage rebates granted to homeowners with eligible energy storage systems. The ţţËã·¨ Installer App (formerly known as the Installer Toolkit) has been updated to streamline system configuration for Smart Solar Billing. Solargraf, the ţţËã·¨ design and proposal platform, also supports design for Illinois systems under Smart Solar Billing and DAP, allowing for detailed cost-benefit analyses and rebate eligibility assessments.
